General Information about breast augmentation

Breast Augmentation is done to help enhance a woman’s breast volume and shape. In some women, breast volume diminishes following pregnancy and/or breast feeding. Others, are self conscious about their breast size and wish to have them enlarged. Another group of women are born with significant breast asymmetry and seek breast augmentation to correct the asymmetry. Finally, some women have loss of volume as well as breast sagging (ptosis) and may need a combination of both breast augmentation and mastopexy (breast lift).

I pride myself on attention to detail in all facets of cosmetic surgery.  It is this attention to detail and special nuances that I have developed and adopted that minimize down time and bruising and discomfort for my patient.  Because of this most of my patients are able to return to their normal daily activities and work in an average of 3-5 days.  Frequently, I am informed by breast surgery patients that they required NO pain pills postoperatively.  Every individual presents special challenges but my usual Tampa area breast surgery patient returns to work in 3-5 days and has minimal discomfort.

When you arrive at the Clearwater Center for Cosmetic Surgery I will personally meet with you and individualize your care to suit your needs. Some women desire natural bust lines and others desire a fuller and bustier rounded appearance.  Still others fall somewhere in between.  I will discuss this as well as the options of silicone or saline implants, my recommendations for placement of the incision, and placement of the implant with regards to the pectoralis muscle.

When I evaluate a patient for breast augmentation I also consider whether they may need a mastopexy at the same or a later time.  I do this so that I may best tailor each woman's augmentation procedure to her desire, body size, and shape.  Your breast augmentation will help you attain that fuller bust you desire but in some women a breast lift would help enhance that bust line.
